Was girding myself for a mercy killing, got my shovel but when I opened door rat was not where we left it. Glue trap is now wedged against wall and gap at back of cabinet, which would be a very clever way to extricate oneself from a sticky surface, and I can hear it scratching away. I'm feeling much less merciful.
