Delivering some mattresses from Dumaine to the Lafitte projects and on the way back to Dumaine the teenage boys I had brought with me and a couple more from the Lafitte who wanted a ride back to Dumaine, decided it would be fun to ride in the bed of the truck under the homemade plywood bed-cover and as they piled in this matronly woman from an upstairs window yelled down quite ferociously at me that I better let those boys out of that truck. I just yelled back up to her my name and where I lived and if she wanted to call the cops as she was threatening to do, she should send them over there, to Dumaine, and then I drove off.
When we got back to the Dumaine house 3 blocks away and I lifted the bed cover the boys were giggling like, well, teenage boys.
