In 1976, the McDonald's at which I worked in suburban Houston was the scene of an armed robbery. I was in the stock room or taking out trash at the time, so I saw nothing.
In the aftermath, everyone was a bit jittery, but the HPD showed up fairly quickly. I turned to a friend, who was still a bit freaked, and said "It's cool, the pigs are here." Just like that, it slipped out, with the officers just around the corner and within earshot. Damn.
