I was in North Carolina when Slackers came out, probably read something about it in the local rag, I think it was The Independent. While I got Tom and Steve here how about suggested some flicks, so I can queue up with Netflix. I don't know why all those Tom ordered for my account on his computer did not show up but they did not. Number one: Geek Prize, that a movie, Steve? Phantom of Liberte, two. I've seen Discreet Charm...

If Netflix has it, you should rent it, it's pretty wild, especially the scene where everyone sits on toilets for a dinner party and furtively goes off to little private rooms to eat. A couple of Netflix suggestions I remember from your list were The General (John Booman, starring Brendan Gleeson) and Igby Goes Down. As I remember others I'll post them.

Random list: Skidoo Starring Jackie Gleason, Dir. Otto Preminger. Faces and The Killing Of A Chinese Bookie both Dir. by John Casavettes. The Piano Teacher (French) I just watched Truffaut's Day For Night (also French) it's fun, a movie within a movie. Have you seen McCabe And Mrs. Miller? it stars Warren Beatty and Julie Christie dir. by Rbt. Altman. As for Boorman, if you like swords and scorcery there's Excaliber. My favorite by him is probably the psychedelic heist flick Point Blank Starring Lee Marvin.
