i have been thinking for over a week about this - something about courageous bystanders and enlightened witnesses proven to change children's lives... or something about the ache of knowing that what you think you know about something is so tinted by what you've had the good luck of hoping for/experiencing, or - i don't know - i think james baldwin wrote something about the thing that we want most in our lives is to touch and be touched by another human being - and that generally we are too afraid. So, here's to not being too afraid.
