Clifford Snowden Louis
LOUIS, , CLIFFORD SNOWDEN Died Friday, Jan. 27 at age 88. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alexander Louis, and one grandson, Philip James Louis. She is survived by one daughter, Sarah Schuler, of Pleasanton, CA., and her husband Tony; five sons and their wives, Don and Pat Louis of Arlington, TX; Paul and Judy Louis of Austin, TX; Walter and Micky Louis of Overland Park, KS; Alex and Valerie Louis of Dallas, TX.; and James Louis of New Orleans, LA; 21 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Clifford was born Dec. 10, 1917 in Bastrop Co., TX, to Nancy Pearl Pepper Snowden and John George Snowden. She graduated from the University of Texas and served with the Navy's WAVES during World War II. She worked professionally as a journalist on newspapers in Austin and Lamesa, TX. and was associate editor of the Texas Bar Journal. She married Alexander Louis July 3, 1947 in Austin, TX. and had lived in Dallas since 1952. She was active in the PTA, a Cub Scout and Girl Scout leader and involved in a wide range of youth and women's groups at Walnut Hill United Methodist Church, where she also served as an archivist with her husband. Clifford was an avid collector and an authority on antique American milk glass. Memorial service is scheduled for 11am Wednesday, February 1, 2006 at Walnut Hill United Methodist Church.
