Sorry to pile on the advice but even sorrier to hear about your back so here's mine:
I had chronic upper back/neck problems for 20 years, chriopractic helped a lot but it was an ostiopath who fixed me in one visit. She taught me three simple stretching excercises and perscribed that I do five minutes worth every day. It worked. I don't do them that often any more, about three times a week now.
