"Explanation: Today an astronomical event will occur that no living person has ever seen: Venus will cross directly in front of the Sun. A Venus crossing, called a transit, last occurred in 1882 and was front-page news around the world."
Thank you Rachael for sharing this site. I can't wait to see tomorrow's beehive comet.

This is the permanent URL of the APOD that Rachael linked to (obviously the front page link given above changes content every day.) Very interesting too, especially for those of us in Manhattan.

Rachael linked to the Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD) on 5/28/2004. But the content at the link for the APOD ( http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/astropix.html ) changes every day. So if you look at it today you see the picture for 6/8/2004: "A Planet Transits the Sun". If you want to see what Rachael liked to on the 5/28/2004 you can't use the APOD link, you have to look at the archive for 5/28/2004: "A Manhattan Sunset".

But I'm not saying the Transit isn't cool too!
