This reminds me, there is an artist named Conrad Bakker from Urbana who holds yard sales. You walk by his table and he is selling, o, I don't know, a deflated inflatable tube, a broken plate, an old stuffed toy.. But when you pick one up - they are replicas of the object that he has chisled out of wood. For what it is worth: www.untitledprojects.com
