Some pretty impressive special effects in this music video. Not sure where I stand on the content though, kind of red-state. No? Btw, I was thinking of changing may name to the Canadian spelling, Thom. Feedback welcome.

i think you should go by the name Tar Moody.

that would make a nice companion "peace" for the twin towers exhibit on The Real Original Tom Moody Weblog Patent Pending. thats the sort of empathy that the crusty ol' art world needs to embrace if its ever wants to get with the masses.

That was an awesome example of hair-pie! That part where he is standing behind that lady in the graveyard reminds me simultaneously of some perv-molester guy and also of the beginning of Night of The Living Dead. Also, the guy's look and demeanor (but not his voice) reminds me of Steve Perry from several Journey videos. I also like the dead soldier angels in the sky. At the begnning, three lights from the sky possess a man on a beach, he is temporarily overcome, and then he begins to sing. At the end of it, three lights that become "angels" fly out of the singer's heart chakra... Are the lights from the sky aliens, or The Spirit of America, or are they supposed to be a kind of blanded-out symbolic represention of the Christian Trinity of God, Jesus, Holy Ghost?

The masses, screw them and their red-states. They're all poor and tired and huddled and the like. What refuse! The art-world is where the elite come to meet. Right Abe? That vid was probably paid for with federal tax dollars too. --Thom

ironic detachment

Thanks, thanks, I know, I find really good stuff. And it's not ironic, Sally, I felt that America needed that video to get through that dark, dark time that nobody actually lived through, except vicariously, watching the boob tube. Unless you lived in NY or near the Pentagon, and then you really needed that inspirational video. But seriously, Abraham identified some of the stranger New Age and horror movie aspects of it. I also liked that the baby in the graveyard scene was multiracial and the mother was very white. Oops, can we talk about race? Are any WFMU moderators around? --b

"horror movie aspects"...
aspects? that thing scares me big time. My impassioned plea for ironic detachment comes straight from the heart. If America's heartfelt facism keeps up much longer we'll be begging on our knees for the return of po-mo empty signifiers.

(sorry bout the big file)
