The project extension and remodeling of a House in the Field, is located in the way to the hill the Prado, in the commune of Curacaví (RM).
The work is located in a plane between the hill and the valley, in a position of great amplitude, with views of the hill towards the east and the valley towards the west.
The order was to extend the house with 3 dormitories and to be, maintaining existing geometry intact. The objective of the project was to rescue and to put in value elements of the Chilean houses of century principles certain that were present in the work, like the patios, galleries and runners.
The house presented/displayed one with fi guración in L, a program of dormitories between a gallery towards the east and a runner towards the west.
These two circulations were rescued, extending them towards the north to annex one second L where the dormitories and being with a patio were grouped, connecting the existing work and the extension by means of a vestibule.
With this operation, the gallery was structured like central circulation, connecting all the enclosures, allowing with its greater width, the situations to be and of halting within the house, due to its direction towards the sun in the morning and the hill.
On the other hand, the runner extended towards the garden in a situation of dominion of the valley, and defense of the heat in the afternoons of summer. The dormitories and being surround a patio, that when closed remaining is an inner garden, an extension of being. When abrir the doors that contain the garden pass to be a landscape incorporating the geography of the hill to the interior of the project.
With fi the guración of the house allowed to work with runners, galleries and patios, to give a renewed air to the construction, were decided on a more effective search of mater iales, using glass, wood, steel and concrete. Eaves were eliminated and the constructive detail between the windows and the ceilings with the liviandad worked that allow these materials.
