It has its moments (Hopper is good as always). The director, Stuart Gordon, did Reanimator in better days. The trailer cuts it to look like an action flick but it is mostly black comedy. I remember they are shipping a cargo of giant mutant pigs at one point.

here lies a proper send off to (tony sharfazi artist) DH. my beef w/ hopper is the issue he had with terry southern over authorship of easy rider.

Although the basic idea for the film was Fonda's, the title Easy Rider was provided by Southern (it is an American slang term for a man who lives off the earnings of a prostitute) and it later emerged that Southern wrote several drafts of the screenplay. During production, Southern became concerned at Hopper and Fonda's replacement of his writing by what he described as "dumb-bell dialogue", and more of the material Southern wrote for the main characters was cut out during the editing process.

Hopper was dumb to dispute the dialog since the real poetry of the movie is visual and musical and the visuals are all him.

Matt Seitz wrote a tribute to Hopper the director right before Hopper died. Few of the obits talked about his skill behind the movie camera.
