I'm not sure what Bill's linking to, but I noticed a certain resemblance between the Tate Eliasson and a blockbuster movie of yore. And I disike that D+S proposal pic: why make something futuristic out of that funky old train track? It looks like the Galleria in [name city here]. And Keir Dullea? cheese-mo.

I went to the presentations given by the finalists (open to the public at the AIA Center for Architecture - the exhibition of all four schemes is still up). Liz Diller gave a great presentation. It seemed the most moderate of all the proposals - respect the nature and history while creating some exciting interventions... but yes, I agree tom, definitely some of the "futuristic" components are not too appealing (and can we really see a swimming pool there?) I think - if this ever happens - it will be scaled down.

seriously, the doable factor was almost completely missing w/ D+S the nearest to an exception.
