interesting thing i found out about stone houses in pa. almost all were originally stone built and then plastered or stucco'd and whitewashed (lime). its latter day taste that leans towards undressed stone. many neglected upper bucks (the less developed area) are half and half with the mortar peeling off. in lower bucks (higher end more worked over area) some are self consciously restored with bits of plaster re applied in a distressed fashion. heres the cheepest stone house ive found so far.
