Wow to both. I grew up attending many concerts at both places. I'm especially gratified that the Beacon was saved, because I remember it was definitely in danger of being razed....
One of the baddest, best concerts I've ever attended to this day was a Blues Review back in the 80's, with, among many, Buddy Guy and Junior Wells, and Johnny Winter- the surprise shocker was brother Edgar Winter came out for a set. Fucking awesome. We screamed our heads off. I have goosepimples just thinking back to that night.
