Oh, yeah - and we always had Crumb's work laying around. I have a funny memory: I must have been ten yrs. old or so, and a young friend & his mother came over to the house for a cup of coffee. She and my Mom went into the living room and there on the coffee table was a stack of Crumb's work on top of the Whole Earth Catalog. In the ashtray beside it a roachclip w/ last night's roach........... I remember walking in there and hearing the mom say "You actually allow your child to see this stuff? It's disgraceful!", and my Mom said "Yes, of course. It's great art." The expression on the lady's face was priceless. She looked at me standing there, a cherubic kid with a Buster Brown haircut, and her jaw dropped. That was last I ever saw of her kid, too...
