We had some fairly major issues yesterday, but it looks like not too much damage. At some point during the day our primary drive failed. Seems like this took a little while (it was exhibiting strange symptoms leading up to the crash.) Once this was detected the drive was pulled and replaced with a backup, thus some things posted yesterday disappeared (from between when the backup was made and the drives switched.) Additionally, the entire site was down from around 11:30pm for the next few hours. I'd appreciate any reports of missing posts/comments. Especially if anyone notices anything missing that was not posted yesterday. Sorry for the hassle.

Don't apologize, I'm amazed at how reliable this site actually is.

(It didn't actually seem like the site was down for that long anyway.)

Thanks, Jim. Sorry that had to happen while you were on vacation.

Looks like the logs are still down. This is what I'm getting:

Warning: Supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in /home/dmtree2/public_html/system/log.php on line 68

I'm looking into this Tom. Not sure yet, but I can see that it is still logging hits, so we're not missing any data because it's down - we're just not able to see it at the moment from the web interface.

Thanks, Jim.

Yes, the table in the database where I keep the referrer information has some corruption. *Hopefully* this happened at the same time the comment table got corrupted, and this isn't an indication that corruption is still happening. From what I can tell the damage here is more extensive than what happened to the comment table (more instances of damage at least, although there are only 50,000+ rows in the comment table and there are over 1.2+ million rows in the referrer table, so the percentage might be the same or even lower.) I'm not going to worry too much about losing a little. I have a dinner tonight, but should be able to get the web interface back up tomorrow.

Any thoughts on the logs, Jim?
One idea I had was that reports could be zipped, as you do on datamantic, so the results for that day/week/month could be accessed speedily. Is that practical?
