SCRATCH AMBULANCE, ETC.
Web-only EP!

I made the tracks below using, let's just say, a very old computer (and also a turntable, but only on the second track). The first two, "Scratch Ambulance" and "Phil's Revenge," have funkoid beats, while "Monster Scales" is more of an electronic sound piece. More than this I don't want to say. This is kind of a trial run, so any comments on .mp3 quality, downloadibility, etc. are welcome. As for the content, try not to hurt my feelings too much. The 8-Bit Construction Set LP on the turntable was for demonstration purposes only and not used in any of these compositions. Thanks to Mark Dagley for ripping the MP3s from a cassette.

Scratch Ambulance. .mp3 format, about 3.75 MB.

Phil's Revenge (TM vs Ectomorph). .mp3 format, about 2.5 MB. Fades up.

Monster Scales. .mp3, about 1.3 MB.

You may want to check your studio for tree frogs. I heard a few in the background of Monster Scales.

Tom -- So far I have been stuggling to download the mp3s because I now merge onto the information superhighway at the frustrating speed of 56k (49....k actually - i can't drive 55!). I figure it's worth adding the comment because most of your audience has hi-speed access and you might otherwise not be aware of the 56k struggle. The amount of time I spend 'reconnecting' to a server - need I say more. I'm going through major hi-speed withdrawl.

I admire your commitment to web-only tracks made with a slow computer. If it's not too much extra work for your friend on the next round of tracks, perhaps the files could be compressed for two connection speeds - as is for hi-speed and a lower quality mp3 or QuickTime MPEG-4 (AC3) for 56k. I've done this in the past with video.

That said, I should surely be able to [at least] get the 1.3MB file downloaded before disconnect occurs. I'll try that later this evening and get back to you.

I had 56K dialup for about a year and used to have a terrible time downloading things. I pretty much gave up. These mp3s were ripped first to CD (by Mark Dagley) and then to mp3 (by me). I ripped them at 192 kps. I can try them at 128 but I'm guessing that'll turn the 4MB song to a 3MB song--not much help if 1.3MB is torture. Please don't spend a lot of time on this, I'll feel bad--I can send them to you on CD.

Just a general comment: I'm trying to keep my page as 56K-accessible as I can, with picture files in the 25-50K range and never more than 125K. How does the page render for you, generally? (Glad you made it down safely, BTW)

A good trio. I like what you created. They have a great minimalist, experimental feel.
The production sound seems significantly strong, even at LOUD volume! I'm doing 600 watts with 6 subwoofers.
You should deffo continue with this pursuit.
I think you could totally make a go of it, especially with more software.
Thanks for the listens.
