Lord God, it would be great if the lefty bloggers would shut up about Rove and Plame, Rove and Plame. Either the prosecutor has something or he doesn't. All this Hardy Boys parsing of the evidence by people who don't know squat is reminiscent of the amateur sleuthing the right wing idiots did over the Rathergate memos. "Keeping up the blog heat" could also be "burning everyone out" on the topic when the prosecutor finally does show his cards, assuming he has anything. Also, Alexander Cockburn is right--this sudden lefty concern for the covert status of a C1A agent is ridiculous. When did that agency, toppler of world governments for oil and banana companies, become the good guys? The real issue should be, when is anyone going to talk seriously about impeaching Bush for lying us into an increasingly bloody war?

- While I agree in general that the current all-Rove-all-the-time atmosphere of some blogs will lead to burn out, it is important to fight the spin of moving goal posts. "Well, once he reports to minimum security prison, we might consider putting him on the disabled list."

- While the agency has done evil things, it's not all bad.

- "Bush lied about Rove, therefore Bush is just another liar" isn't a bad start for separating Bush from at least some of his supporters. 4 out of 10 American's think Bush isn't honest. Nice turn of events, but not far enough obviously.

I don't agree that Rove/Plame should be put aside to focus on Bush's lying us into war. I think the two are inextricably linked, the former clearly showing how far the Administration was willing to go to achieve their war of choice. This, together with the Downing Street Memos, and who knows what else will turn up down the road will build a tapestry of corruption, fanaticism and malevolence that History will ultimately judge him by. But in the mean time, prejudice and fear seem to reign supreme (but only just barely) so here's to hoping that their teflon tipping point is close at hand.

wouldnt letting up on rove play into w's use of the nomination as a distraction? it was a breaking story which cooper/time parlayed into two weeks worth of sales. if the results of fitzgerald's investigation aren't expected till october what? wait till then to speak? if it continues to break, id say burn outs the lesser evil.

I looked back on my old posts and I had Rove and Bush pegged for the Plame leak in September 2003, with no access to State Dept memos or whatever. It heated back down for two years--during which time I read I don't know many left bloggers telling us "of course" it was Scooter Libby, not Rove. My point is there is heat--which can be brought to bear when needed--and a hundred bloggers parsing these dull memos trying to "solve" the case. Yuck on a stick.
