I just saw "You Can Count On Me" again. For me It stood up to a second viewing.

I think that made my top three list for the year, although I'd have to think hard what the other two were, although likely the flick I saw because of its Dmtree mention by JimB, Crouching Tiger, (if for nothing else the breath taking choreographed fight scenes) is one of them. I can't figure out what made You Can Count On Me stick in my mind so much although I suspect it is the theme I heard put into words by one reviewer which in effect said that the movie's characters were constantly greying the issue of what is simply good and simply bad, which as a theme--rocks. And Laura Linney was purely loveable, but the Ruffalo ? character was such a whiner I can only guess I forgave him that due to the sympathy I have towards certain whiners, especially the one in the mirror.

Anyone care to elaborate on this title? I've never even heard of this movie.

  • A thirty-something orphaned erudite drifter comes passing back through his sister's small town to recharge his batteries, and hit her up for some cash, before moving on again. Matthew Broderick, who seems to have a pretty good eye for scripts, is in it too.
