anybody catch andrew weil on 60 minutes? i saw this little exchange which dovetailed nicely with my own amateurish theories. somehow i had the notion that fear/stress can be related to allergies.
I missed it. Plasitc had the heads up last week. Seems like Dr. Weil is coming out of the closet. He used to like not to talk about these things. I guess now that he's done the Oprah circuit for a few years (mostly promoting his "Mediteranian diet") and possibly amassed a bunch of cash, maybe he is feeling a little bolder. Long time readers of Dr. Weil know that these things have always been on his mind, but I guess it doesn't pay too well to start your career talking about them. Maybe he has the clout to do so now without being shot down. Also, it might be that there is a vacancy at the top of that particular "underground" pyramid now that T.M. is gone. Maybe Weil is going to try to step in. He wouldn't be a bad public leader IMHO.
i saw it. seemed like they were trying to out him as a new-age wacko trying to make a buck. it was stressed (twice) how many millions he is making off sales of videos and books and lectures, etc. and yet he does not back up his information with his own research. 60min also tested a few brands of supplements weil has recommended in the past to show they did not include as much of the ginseng, ginko, or whatever, that the label claimed. not very un-biased reporting, which, from what i remember of this show, is fairly typical.
