Not much info, but there is supposedly an "EMERGENCY PROTEST TODAY, TIMES SQUARE 5:00PM, Thursday, March 20."

There is no permit for this action.

Looks like all the usual suspects are on board. From an email:

Today, Thursday, some Take Back the Future people will join the New Yorkers Say No to War contingent in front of the Main Post Office, 34th St. and 8th Avenue at 4:30.  This group will then move towards the emergency rally in Times Square scheduled for 5:00.

Others plan to be in Washington Square at around 7:00, an end point for the Times Sq. rally, for a candlelight vigil.  Judson Memorial Church (Thompson St. and Washington Square South) is opening its doors to the community at 7:00, so people can be together, of course for hand wringing, but also to talk and plan.

Got one of those going on in downtown Portland right now. So far the police are making few arrests.

  • There were arrests. Protesters blocked traffic on bridges and two interstates. Helicopters hovered over my apt. all night, today too. One of the march organizers has created an instant messenger program in order to keep communications open. During the march it was used primarily as a kind of field blog. Scroll down to see some of the entries.
