Hey Bill, Selma or anyone, I'm working on a storyboard and looking for loads of interior (esp. interior) and exterior shots of a house, a sort of vertual tour. The house I'm after is a big family home, Modern design but not a masterpiece. Ideally but not necessarily the pics would capture the personality of the residents- their furniture, possessions, dishes cluttering the kitchen counter etc.
So far I'm having trouble finding what I'm looking for (kind of a tall order I guess) Seen anything like this? Any ideas?
TIA

Unfortunately I can only suggest doing 'google image' searches and try to get more and more specific in your search criteria. Maybe start with "furniture + modern + interior" or "interior + house + modern" and go from there in the direction you like... I am sure Bill and others have better ideas... sorry Steve I will keep thinking. Deadline?

you know they tell you to neaten it up when the photographer comes over. let me think on it. you know julius shulman is the bomb for cali modern. but i think your looking for that lived in look.

How about www.ikea.com (the showroom images - so pots are in the kitchen, beds are made etc).

a little more direction on how "modern" or "designer" you want to go?

  • Good question, I'm really thinking of early 60's to early 70's. Definetly not space-age camp and not major archetects-Eames, van der Rhoe, Wright, Neutra etc. More lilke a minor archetect or good contractor who brought the toned down asthetics of those archetects to the middle and upper-middle-class masses.

Gosh steve, I'm sorry to let you down... bill's point is really true - architects don’t seem to like people - or seemingly any signs of life - in their shots.. maybe photoshop is needed? Knock on someone's door with a digital camera (kind of kidding, but kind of not)?
Someone should develop a website of templates - interiors and people - you could just drag from one to the other. I am picturing a paper doll set of interiors.
