looks like I can add kottke to the small list of sites to which I have made some modest (and I mean modest,) anonymous, contribution. Check out the April 12th entry where he gives the results of a question he asked about the name for a monochromatic style of dress. I supplied the incorrect but favorite answer. Now if only I had a page I wasn't embarassed about, I might have gotten a link out of that from the mighty jason kottke.

I don't know where it comes from. I just remember when I was a kid in Massachusetts my familly used to go to church on Sunday and sometimes in the summer (or even, gasp, out of season) you'd see these old men wearing all white. Or maybe not the jacket, but the white pants, shirt, belt, shoes.... We always called this "a full Cleveland" but I have no idea how that started. But I guess (at least accourding to j.k.'s web search) that others have used this phrase too. I can't imagine that all white is very big in Cleveland. I would have guessed some place more southern, but maybe it's a regional put-down rather than anything based on actual dressing style. I guess this is the kind of crap filling up the web that makes you wonder whether it's so great after all.
