"If you really want to hurt your parents, and you don’t have the nerve to be a homosexual, the least you can do is go into the arts. But do not use semicolons. They are transvestite hermaphrodites, standing for absolutely nothing. All they do is show you’ve been to college." ¯ Kurt Vonnegut

What would a hermaphrodite wear to be a transvestite; what item of punctuation is a metaphor for homosexual transexuals?

  • Patrick's blue shorts. The asterisk.

Shakespeae never went to college; James Joyce never went to college; Kurt
Vonnegut went to the very same college as Laura (Riding) Jackson & used the semicolon regularly in his early work until he discovered he could sell more books with a goading insolent subliteracy. Some guys have all the luck.
His fiction is adored by aspiring adolescent jackoffs but his serious work in essay form is admired by pinkos of all stripes.
