global warming a myth? NO : sea cow spotted in hudson river off 23rd st.

to clarify: it was not a spotted seacow.

The Manatee was even reported on birding lists but it doesn’t really say anything about global warming. Wrong-way creatures happen for a variety of reasons and there are other records this far north. If the species as a whole showed a northward expansion it would be notable but Manatees are endangered and hardly in the business of expanding their range. Typical bullshit news article; nature is basically a joke, as long as nobody gets hurt. The shorebirds currently passing through the area put the Manatee to shame, migrating from extreme South America to northern Canada and back every year.
But that’s not news.

Reminds me of the wayward sea lion who swam 100 miles up the San Joaquin river in Califonia's cental valley. This was a big story at the time, because sea lions on cars are cute.
