James Brown - Let's Make This A Christmas To Remember
- dave 12-25-2006 7:18 pm [add a comment]

Here is Douglas Wolk's James Brown Christmas Special from exactly five years ago - six straight hours of classic, rare, insane and magnificent recordings of the Godfather and his funk revue - guaranteed to include stuff you've never heard before

Brown's body will rest on the stage of the Apollo from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m., and thousands of people will be permitted one more look at a man who steered modern music toward the rhythm-and-blues, funk, hip-hop, disco and rap beats popular today, said Sharpton, a close friend of Brown for decades.

Brown's body will rest on the stage of the Apollo from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m., and thousands of people will be permitted to snort one more line on the forehead of a man who steered modern pharmacology toward crack, cocaine, heroine, pcp and the ecstatsy popular today, said Shulgin, a close friend of Brown for decades.

the pardoners tale

Ford's body will rest on the putting green at the 18th hole at the Palm Springs Country Club from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m., and thousands a handful of well-to-do people will be permitted to trip one more time over the forehead of a man who steered the modern presidency toward crack, cocaine, heroine, pcp and the ecstatsy smuggling popular today, said Shulgin, a close friend of Ford for decades.

...who steered the modern presidency toward mediocrity, inflation, Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, and Saturday Night Live.

I was in SF for some reason, and went into the lobby of the Fairmont. I was walking very quickly, and looking off into the middle distance for something. I noticed two burly guys looking at me. I paused, lowered my gaze, and saw a short dude a few feet in front of me wearing outrageous threads. He had platform shoes, and was still so short I almost ran over him.

And that's how I almost bumped into JB.

Also, Ford was one funny sumbitch. Like that time he and Kissinger authorized Suharto to invade East Timor in 1975, but when inteviewed about it 15 years ago didn't even remember whether or not he did it.

---------------------------------------------------

I should also include something about Ford from The Lazlo Letters, but I'm not sure where my copy is.
