When Carl Andre threw his wife out a window, thereby gaining more notoriety than he ever did from his sculpture, I wrote an essay titled Van Gogh’s Other Ear which basically followed from Jeremy Gilbert-Rolfe’s observation that “art is never interesting in the way that neurosis is.”
