A deep pile carpet with an additional carpet pad in that room may help. Check out abc carpet for a good looking area rug (deep pile) that fills most of the room. Then try and hit up Sarah for an employee discount! Carpet pads are cheep from home depot and off the shelf sizes can be cut and duct taped to be the right size, just smaller than the real rug.
