There was one question, "is something pronounced more like this or more like that?" where the proper answer was "theys all the same". I forget which one, but wasn't the Mary, marry, merry question, which did have that as an answer. In the south, there are just plain more homonyms. E.g. pen and pin. Aero and arrow. I've run into issues with both of those when conversing with Yankees.

Here's one that could have helped localize my origins more precisely: Does the first syllable of Houston sound like "hue" or "you"? (The latter.)
