Okay.. this is what we know for sure…
Bird disease has been found and reported IN Pennsylvania. It effects their site and neurological aspects.  It is being spread around feeders/bird baths where birds congregate. Unknown if this also applies to ground feeding but it’s spread through birds congregating so I would assume it’s included. There is no evidence on how or if it will effect your other pets. Hummingbird feeders have no signs of it but I highly recommend cleaning them daily as a precaution.  The disease is in 9 states so far. It’s been found in all neighboring states so most likely it’s effected all of Pennsylvania. Pennsylvania is just now getting reports. Not all birds found with it dead or alive have been reported so it’s hard to tell how far it’s traveled.  If you find a bird dead you can contact a rehab center and file a report if you wish . If you find one, I was told to put it in a plastic bag to confined the disease. Keep other pets away and thoroughly wash your hands.  There are a lot of reports and articles being posted on this site, google, news feeds and such. Please read or listen to them. Some have good reliable information, use your judgment on what you want to believe.  But I urge all members to take down their feeders. This time of year birds have natural resources and they will find food. We all need to do our part.
