According to Talk Of The Nation and Brian Lehrer, Powell was out of the loop in the Bush administration prior to 9-11. (This was confirmed by Jim and Mr.Wilson) I suspect his position within the cabnet is unchanged.
i disagree. i think his stock has risen during the crisis. he has underscored the importance of patience and planning and has also stressed the importance of consensus building among the allies before acting. also he was the first federal official to face the press and he did so with aplomb rather than with pabalum which is bushs stock in trade.
