Excuse me, but I believe that "jiesh" (sp?) along with "geeze" etc. is a bowdlerized rendering of "Jesus"; a mollified form of taking the name in vain, reference to which might offend our Moslem friends. It's sort of like Norman Mailer having to substitute "fug" for "fuck" in The Naked & the Dead. Not sure about "yeesh" which sounds Yiddish. It might be "Joshua" (or "Yeshua", or some such) but that was actually Jesus' name in Hebrew, or Aramaic, or whatever they were speaking back then, so it's the same difference.
