Part of why I am off to Iquitos is to re-connect with that travel crew/spirit or try, my 5 months in American Central in 1983 during the "wars" will be my legendary trip.......($1500 total dollars spent inc one way flight Boston to Merida, finished w/ train to SF, and back on Dead tour, then met Janice the Model in Palo Alto, end off tour off to Paris we go for a month while she works, then NYC.......what a year;>)

6 weeks in Nicaragua, crazy times!! Hope to write an unsellable book but the kids will then know their dad:>)

Steve you were in the East Village 83 right? Bill in NYC too yes?

I arrived Dec 6, 1983, Suffolk and Houston, moved to 647 E 11th two weeks later. Didn't you abandon a bus stuck on a mountain road and have to hike into Tibet at some point in the 80's?

I did a pilgrimage to Badrinath at the border of Tibet in monsoon season as that's when it is possible, rest of the year its iced under......yes getting there was wild, you would have to bus between avalanches, walk over one, and get on the next bus. We drove over one and I was saying forsure we are dead into the gorge, so high up.

The year was 1990, that is the longest I have been out of the country till next Feb, so 34 years ago.

That trip started with Laurie and Steve in Burgundy with a Lawrence Weiner dinner I fell asleep at, then visiting vineyards and stuff with those Consortium boys.

I felt stuck in Badrinath and needed to get back to work, Skurnik game me three weeks off. Finally a but to Haridwar arrives and on it I sent. It stopped in the middle of the night behind 6 other busses, so I walked and luckily #1 an army hummer showed up and drove me the rest of the way. That night the monsoon hit the area with the busses and some went into the gorge and 70 people died. I have photo's as I had a minox spy camera and newspaper articles to back this up.

Where in Iquitos?
I know the hood pretty well.
Get a boat and a guide and head upstream!

Will you include your smoking of a large bowl of 5-MEO DMT on the floor of my Soho Grand Hotel room?

Where you managed to sit up and utter:

I THINK IT'S HELPING!

love to the fam

  • Casa Morey! I think I ate caiman there. Paiche (Arapaima)
    from the market in Belem might be the best tasting freshwater fish ever; they keep them alive in kiddie
    pools. Probably be extinct in 15 minutes. Don't eat turtle;
    too reincarnated. Safe travels, bro. Miss yous. PS If you get real sick just go the airport and get to Lima. Don't go to the hospital for any reason. Don't swim at the zoo. I swam at the zoo, but what do I know. And of course, suss out the brew by actual in person trusted peer review. And don't worry about a dieta; just do the purga and yer good to go.
    about the dieta.
