The Times blurb:
BUTTHOLE SURFERS, the World, Broadway at 43d Street, Midtown, (212) 398-3439. In the early 1980's, the Butthole Surfers roared out of Texas with a clangourous punk drone, rude lyrics, gross-out video backdrops and a tendency to set fires onstage. They can still create mesmerizing drones, but in the 1990's they calmed down slightly and began to add dollops of melody to their songs. Their shows remain thoroughly unpredictable. Tonight at 9; admission is $20 (Pareles).
