thats kind of what the editorializing is about. what seemed like cruelty by some of the monkeys was just as likely a form of hazing but since we are empathy monsters we misperceive what is happening. although the infant was abandoned by its mother for reasons unclear. surely there will be think pieces about her post-partum depression and why we shouldnt blame her for abandoning it. 

the winner of course is ikea because the monkey bonded with a stuffed orangutan which instantly sold out while other stuffed animal sellers tried to capitalize on the fervor because human decency however misguided must be exploited.

happy ending, the monkey found acceptance and support eventually in the concrete zoo built for our amusement.
