I agree that we have to vote for Kerry if only to get rid of Bush. I have always been anti-Nader in the sense that we can’t afford to give him the votes. “Stupid Russian shit,” hmm, I am happy to report I sensed disgust with Bush in Russia, but when traveling you never know who you get thrown in with. I was with a pretty liberal group which probably was not representational. The pope photo op seemed to disturb a few people and was all over the papers. The translation I got was that they felt Bush was taking advantage of the pope and it was said, I am not sure if this is true, Bush’s advance team chose not to tell the pope’s people he was getting that medal (and they were furious after the fact) - in order not to allow him the opportunity to respond (wouldn’t it have been great if he called Bush a huge hypocrite). And Bush giving the pope the medal of freedom isn’t that a bit condescending, to say the least? But yes, I try to stay away from talking about this.
It was the white nights (not stupid but eerie and beautiful) something I have never experienced. I would look at my watch and it would be 2/3am and still the sun would be shinning, well, dimming, but still out and about.
