I don't mean to defend the Post (I read the thing, which is already more than it deserves) but seeing the latest Voice clarifies my thought. The slight change of tenor at the Post signals the start of a process that will end with all the NY papers getting to where the Voice is now. Giuliani is going to need a scapegoat, if only because of campaign pressures. He's never shown any ability to admit error, but if he circles the wagons here, it will cost him. I think, in the end, he will bow to the political expediency. I could be wrong; he's one true hard-ass. Hillary should hope he remains defiant; I've never been optimistic about her prospects, but the imploding opponent is always the best political strategy.
