During the initial run of the film, a Dane died while laughing during a screening, which led newspapers to report that he had died from laughter. The official cause of death was heart fibrillation which may have been caused by an increased heart rate due to extended laughter.

Too bad it wasn't playing at a revival house.
watched it last night for the 12 time in 35 years.......still funny, but I controlled myself as I have lots to live for

nothing funnier than a good stutter. i watched gladiator again last night. it was on and i happen to read earlier in the day that ridley scott is doing a sequel so felt like a worthy revisit. the treacle-y cutaways to russell crowe dreaming of his dead wife and kid in the great beyond are a bit much. i think it won best picture too. gives me hope that maverick can pull the big upset. tom cruise saved hollywood. spielberg said so!
