watched bailey & scott or scott & bailey most of mid-week. some sort of gynocracy afoot in the manchester pd if i remember correctly. much better than dci banks, at least character-wise. definitely taking a procedural hiatus though unearthed another from same creators on amazon prime called unforgotten. weirdly one of the victims with an arc that spanned two seasons is now one of the primary detectives. 

instead today i watched emma. and contagion. emma. was a pretty confection but mostly empty calories. contagion seems to our good fortune a scenario we wont approach in terms of lethality or societal breakdown. what it failed to imagine was that the huckster spreading fear would be president and the grifters would be the financial class first in line for handouts. there is something admirable about the matter of factness and restraint in the making of the movie but it somehow falls short of being a great entertainment though certainly a success as a cautionary tale unheeded.
