i guess its a pretty slight mrs maisel type show in a more traditional sitcom format but nice little comedic star turn for gemma arterton in the nick hornsby adapted funny woman. i remember reading years ago that arterton eschewed roles after awhile that were mostly about her looks (which are very looky) so stands to reason she would make something thats about an shopgirl turned actress trying to get jobs/roles not based solely on her looks. and sure set it in swinging london because who doesnt look good in mid sixties garb. a bit obvious but not bad.

another brit offering with a quality cast, the gold, that i started but cant decide if ill return to is a story based on a small time crime that turned into an accidental huge gold heist. since the heist itself is quickly dispensed with i guess much of it involves how to fence it and who to trusst as the paranoia amps up once the walls close in.

the last of us is the latest entrant into the post apocalyptic post pandemic zombie sweepstakes. i guess that makes it more a high brow walking dead than something more thoughtful like station eleven which stuck to a real world killer virus motif. i guess if you buy into the characters journey, more figuratively than literally you will enjoy it as you can only go so far with killing zombies.

another cult comedy classic gets a 10 year reunion season. dont think the arrested development worked out so well but looking forward to seeing how party down fares. out today on hulu i think. havent sought it out yet. one review headline i saw said the cringeness was toned down a bit. i guess we all mellow with age, well some of us. not me surely.
