found erick swenson

Ah spring. Found my very own Erick Swenson artwork embedded in some old leaves in the back alley.

or kiki smith maybe? There is a series she did of bronze birds that are especially tactile. The bird fits right in the palm of ones hand. its weight is surprising.

Holy Hannah! What's it made of?

This one is plastic. It's just one of those feathered fake-bird ornaments that's been outside too long, but it looks like a taxidermy form. I thought of Erick Swenson cause of the pathetic way it was lying in the alley, a sort of sweet but dead thing, like his little deer in the snow. That work is still bugging me from a few weeks ago. I didn't like it a lot, but its on my mind anyhow. Reminds me of the Chapman Brothers, but I have no idea if Swenson is trying to be creepy or not.
