 | This photograph is one of the few art works (aside from artists' books, of which I have many) that I've ever purchased. It is by a young photographer from Barrie, ON, named Ryan Foerster. I purchased it in February at Clint Roenisch gallery in Toronto. It was part of a group show called "Little Stabs at Happiness." I think the piece is untitled, and I don't know the date. My friends either don't remark on it, or they tell me they "don't get it." I like it for several reasons: 1) I still find testosterone-induced mania infectious (even after Jackass), 2) I am interested in depictions of monsters, 3) The pink panther is a cool art icon, employed by Jeff Koons in 1988.  |

"Testosterone induced mania." I was just thinking the other day that I _love_ watching guys spit on the street. It's gross and rude, and I certainly don't enjoy walking in a puddle of hork, but there's something so right out there about the way they do it.

that's the logs! the ash is reflecting in the flash, while the red flames are barely visible. the weird surreal bottom right corner is another reason I like this photograph.
Ryan is not from Barrie. He's from Lithuania and immigrated here when he was 12. He didn't live in Barrie. He lived in little Italy in Toronto with his Mother and older sister. She had multiple sclerosis. The photo is titled "Sammy Davis Jr. is Black," and the year is 2001. I have a few works by Ryan Foerster. I heard he was gay. If that's true, I think I'm in love.
ryan foerster is from newmarket, ontario. there's no way he could ever come from barrie, he's just too much of a maniac.
the photo should be titled "eric and the pink panther".
i, too, own some of ryan's works.
