Sibling rivarly dictates that I should downplay my brother's accomplishments, but as a matter of fact he actually is a big smarty pants and I think his work is great. I love this sunset thing he's doing these days!

That said, Myfanwy is also a smarty pants who does stuff with games and I dig her work a lot! She is in a show opening in Toronto tomorrow night at InterAccess AND another show opening on March 9th at Lennox Gallery.

I was wondering who that guy was when he was over at Sally's place, nattering away, while I was trying to watch a movie. (he just wouldn't shut up!)

Joe's work gets better all the time. The first piece of his that I saw was the colour game that he exhibited at wee works with Myfanwy (who is also on a roll these days) and I loved that piece for a million reasons. One problem I have had with art work that had a participatory element to it was that the participation generally involved gratuitous grunt work in fabrication. (I think that it was Peter Schjeldahl who had once complained that it was a tactic to get an artist's audience on-side) What Joe does is to provide his audience with the acts that contain many of the rewards you get when you are the artist. The other thing I really like is that the work is removed from the compressed space of a lot of digital work and placed in the realm of spectacle. The sunset piece is a stunner.

Dang, my cover's been blown!
myfanwy, I've just spent the last few hours feeling like a jerk because I had no idea who Ian Thao is. But upon second reading I realised you said lan thao and I'm much relieved. I have nice things to say about him too.
