Wilderness Tours is a pretty slick outfit and none of us died. We were there just a tad too early for Canadian Forces Week.

We noted on the white water rafting adventure that if you have the right technology and people do what you say you can achieve a fair amount. Von Bark was quick to note, that yes you can get done what the people who are giving the orders want to achieve. I remarked over the riverside picnic barbecue lunch that if this really was the army, they'd be a lot more mean to us. VB replied that if this really was the army someone would be delivering a lecture while we ate. All in all it was really fun and somewhat less scary than the drive home

Thomas Kinkade said that if your raft hits one of his picturesque water wheels, you better start praying.

I went body surfing. We all lined up and then jumped into the rapid one by one. The term body surfing makes it sound very fun like wheeeee, here we go down the stream but really its more like aaaaaaaugh, I'm being swept away by a giant current and my sinuses are full of river water and I can't move in all this high-tech equipment I'm wearing, not to mention the waterlogged running shoes and wool socks, and I can't see shore because my helmet is over my eyes and the so-called leg straps on this life jacket would be very definitely more aptly called groin straps.

people pay extra for real groin straps, so concider yourself lucky.
they don't let you stear the raft, do they. Bastards.

they let us steer the raft on the second day. Brian did it and he was great. Also Allison did a lot of yelling of the words "keep paddling! paddle hard! paddle! hard! etc" and due mostly to these two factors and luck we didn't tip over once! I think some people were disappointed we didn't fall into the raging torrent but not me.

(Sally doesn't want to talk about the uglier aspects of her rafting adventure, but I agree, Rob, it should be discussed)

Someone should oughtta post the version of The Raft of The Medusa as re-created by women wearing red dresses drinking martinis which Rob showed me years ago. Not the Pogues version.
