Parasitic Venture Press has a launch tomorrow at Art Metropole (588 King St. West, 2-5 pm). I'm keen because artists' books are great, but publishing them is a hard gig. Michael Maranda loves the medium, and knows it well, and is moving this forward with lots of amibtion and enthusiasm. Also, I've sneak previewed some of the books launching and they're great, notably Sandra Rechico's whereabouts.

i popped in to the launch on sat and checked out sandras book. pretty cool. i found myself thinking about taking each drawing and trying to figure out where she was going to kind of reverse engineer the maps. i also quickly flipped through daniel cockburn's book -which seemed very decadant - having so few words on each page and how much pause time there woudl be in between each chunk of words although admittedly i did not read it and so have no context for the pauses and so I will be going back.
