That's beautiful.

We are very proud of our civic font.

(Greetings from an acreage just outside of Saskatoon.) (Christ, I'm almost out of here. Thank god)

this is really not related at all but the most applicable place i could thing of for posting my reluctance. On Saturday I will flip my Tate Installations calendar. I have loved looking at the August photo of Olafur Eliasson's Weather Project. The large and hazy sun on the wall with musuem goers lying and sitting in pairs and groups on floor, seemingly to soak up the rays.

Oh well, time does move on. I suppose I will come to enjoy Michael Landy's "Semi-detached". I like the write up, "...the work questioned value and usefulness, employment and purpose."

that last posting is me!

Perfect for a game of "What Do You Like Better?"

I'm going to say "semi-detached"
- L.M. 8-30-2007 8:56 am

game. excellent.

i'll say weather project. but i wonder what LM know that I don't.
- nanmac (guest) 8-30-2007 4:46 pm

nanmac, did you see the weather project in the flesh? From its photo (and reputation) I'd pick it too. Also curious about L.M.'s choice.
- sally mckay 8-30-2007 6:22 pm

negative. but ben smith lea told me about it in such a way that i felt like i was there. and i am not even sure he was there to see them.

i have only been to the tate once and that was when the carsten holler slides were installed in the Turbine Hall.

that was fucking fantastic but sadly they are not featured in my calendar.
- nanmac (guest) 8-30-2007 7:34 pm

I know nothing that you don't know, Nanmac. I just saw too many repros of it. I could even change my pick today.

Damn it I will, I'm not worried about looking flaky.
- L.M. 8-30-2007 8:13 pm

The Carsten Holler slides look so completely fun and sci-fi.

carsten holler

He did one of those out the side of the Kunsthalle Berlin a few years ago. Didn't slide down.
- L.M. 8-30-2007 10:30 pm

Yeah, they have one of those at the Holiday Inn in Kamloops BC.

(VB via SM).

prada has one of those in her offices. i want to be super duper rich so i can have my own office slide
- anthony (guest) 8-31-2007 12:32 pm

anthony, maybe we can each become super duper half rich and split the cost of the slide. I would love to have access to them on a daily basis. In the notes on the installation, CH said there was a theraputic component to the slides as they noticed they had an ability to ward of feelings of depression. Riding the slides from the 3rd, 4th and especially 5th floor provoked an unusual combination of serenity and exhileration. Even if you didn't ride the slides watching people's faces, as they landed on the crash pads, a mixture of laughter, smile and relief - was really fun. I don't know, maybe it's all about a mini-adrenaline rush.
- nanmac (guest) 8-31-2007 8:33 pm

maybe i can get giant funding for the slide from the alberta aides to daily living, i mean they wont buy me a lamp, but i am sure with the right doctors notes, i can convince them to buy me a 5 story slide.
