this is a great photo, the green and yellow label make it.

undead grosbeak. I love it.

I find it hard to believe that those paints will adhere to the plastic. I hope we're going to get some more process shots.

Awesome! My sister had this exact kit when we were kids- i remember thinking "Huh. Models for girls. What next?" and going back to building hot rods, war planes, and rocket ships.

Oh, hers was a cardinal, not a grossbeak.
- rob (guest) 3-25-2008 1:37 pm

i had two of those models as a kid - Cardinal, and American Goldfinch. Yes, the paints suck.

Yum. More chocolate animals.

My cardinal was one of those red rubber molds that you filled up with plaster of Paris.
- M.Jean 3-25-2008 1:55 pm

I covet that grossbeak kit something fierce.
- C.R. (guest) 3-25-2008 2:57 pm

i covet the red rubber mold a little more, honestly
- anthony (guest) 3-25-2008 3:52 pm

Just how much do you covet it? I still have mine.
- M.Jean 3-25-2008 3:56 pm

This must be what they call enthusiasm spam.

I'm still laughing over: "Huh. Models for girls. What next?"

It was a gift from R.M. in exchange for not killing his animals while he was out of town for a few days. I'll probably snap it together but I don't want to paint it, I'd hate to ruin the perfect little colour palette.

I have three (remnants from my childhood): a red-headed woodpecker, bluebird and a robin embellished with my mothers' oil paints. I also had a budgie model - my grandfather (ignoring the instructions) painted with polka dots and stripes. I also had a Big Daddy Ed Roth designed model 'The Mad Dentist' - my absolute fave.

I covet it muchly M. Jean. Perhaps to the tune of some monetary equivalent. It beats the Bluenose model ship building kit I had as a child. I never put it together as the first step was to finish carving the hull.

Just found a site with a bunch of finished Bachmann birds.
