Years ago a roommate asked me to make a Japanese flag for the window of Pages Books. I used un-sized canvas so the red edges were slightly blurry plus I slipped with the brush and made a splotch slightly outside the circle.

It ended up to be more of a good painting than a good flag, but I was really puzzled over his jokes about me 'flying the red flag', he thought it was hilarious and he continued to repeat it to everyone who'd listen, until someone explained the expression to me (then I put a stop to that joke ...real fucking fast).

when judd was at marfa, he had thousands of flags in a wooden box he had found, for special occasions, and sometimes because emotion or aesthetic called for it, he would make sure to fly them, his favourite was the all black anarchist flag, with out the red highlights, or the A.

You mean the black rectangle?

Your flags are much better than vvork's but will probably not be vvorked because they are not earnest enough.

With a few small exceptions, I really liked most of those flag works. (I just love flags) (and cigarette packages)

Here's a nice flag work I saw a little while ago on Catherine Spaeth's site:

i usually know apfelbaum from super elegant hyper decorative pretty things, so this is a (2ondeful) suprise.

yes, the black rectangle.

Well, where was the Apfelbaum on Vvork? Or your GIFs? There is more visual oomph on this page than in that whole Vvork series. To me this is typical Vvork:

"Oh God, There is No God" features a large wall-hung Dutch flag like the kind soccer fans wave at football matches. The artist provocatively emblazoned the red, white and blue bands of the national flag with an atheist slogan in big black Gothic letters reading "Oh God, there is no God."
