The Leningrad Cowboys are actually from Finland, so in light of 20th century history, this concert is even more awesome.

I grew up hearing the Red Army Chorus on my mom's records, even went to see them once, when they came to Calgary, so this is doubly weird for me. (Also saw the Moscow circus, with the bears riding motor bikes.)

The band was originally created for a movie called the Leningrad Cowboys Go America by some Finnish director. (I saw it years ago) But they took off as an act and made recordings & gave concerts

What I didn't know is that the Choir is actually called the A. V. Alexandrov Russian army twice red-bannered academic song and dance ensemble.

I'll have to do a devotional on them by themselves. I love Russian folk songs. (I also think their National Anthem is beautiful)

Stairway to Heaven

Just read that 70,000 people crammed into Senate Square in Helsinki to see their first concert with the Choir in 1993.
